What We Do
CSA aims to provide fun, structured teaching and coaching for children to learn and express themselves through football.
This all starts with our Saturday morning sessions – see SATURDAY Football Fun for the Under 6s.

Ages 2 to 5 – Shooting Stars
With the youngest age groups we begin the process of teaching and coaching soccer skills with a street play concept of free play whilst learning kicking, trapping, passing and dribbling and other basic skills.
Our sessions offer a progressive programme which gives the opportunity for children to develop as players as they learn coordination, individual skills, teamwork, listening, co-operation and respect. Pretty much everything we do, we do with a ball.
In all our sessions children are taught fun games in a safe environment. Games are designed to encourage interaction, communication and coordination ensuring everyone enjoys learning new skills.
Our programme rapidly progresses (along with the age and ability of the children) to more technical skills and team play using fun games and mini matches to capture children’s imagination.
For those older than 6.
As we are qualified and experienced in running football teams from Under 7 upwards and we currently have 14 youth teams and one adult team in Newbury and Basingstoke – go to www.csafc.co.uk for details.
In CSA 07 fc we continue the fun concept developed through our Saturday morning sessions as we introduce more advanced technical skills and work to produce teams which concentrate on a touch and go passing format.
However, our aim is to provide football for everyone who wants to play, irrespective of gender, race, religion and in particular irrespective of ability. We run this in a friendly and supportive setting intending to build skills, team spirit and self-esteem. We are committed to creating and preserving the safest possible environment for children to play football. We will undoubtedly have some squads/teams that contain “better” players but we are determined to give the opportunity to those whose skills may not (yet at least) be as high but who still want to play. Ability will not be a barrier to playing for one of our squads.
Schools
We run after school clubs in West Berkshire Schools for children from Reception classes to Year 6. Again the emphasis is on fun, not pressure. We do teach basic skills and every session ends with a game.
Special Needs, the disadvantaged and disengaged
We are currently engaged at the Pupil Referral Units in Newbury and we often have young people working with us as part of their reparation from the Youth Offenders Team in Newbury as well as young volunteers and young people undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh awards etc. As our aim is to provide football for everyone we also work with 'at risk' young people, including: disadvantaged/disengaged young people and children with Special Needs, Autism, Asbergers, sight and hearing impairments, ADHD and so on.
In the Community we provide football to youth services, community centres and local groups and running School holiday drop in sessions and local fun days based on football. We often take our sessions out into rural areas surrounding Reading and Newbury during school holidays.
